e@syFile Employer is the free desktop application SARS provides for the employer reconciliation process. It is built to handle the bulk certificate work that the EMP501 requires, which the eFiling website is not designed for.
What it means
At reconciliation time an employer imports its payroll certificate data into e@syFile, which validates it, generates an IRP5 or IT3(a) for each employee, and assembles the EMP501 that reconciles the year's EMP201 declarations to those certificates. The validated submission is then sent to SARS.
Where it fits in
e@syFile sits at the year-end and interim reconciliation points, downstream of the monthly EMP201s filed on eFiling. Payroll exports a certificate file, e@syFile turns it into validated IRP5/IT3(a) certificates and the EMP501, and distributes each employee's certificate.
